Ceramic Coating vs. Powder Coating |
Powder coating is an electrostatically applied paint process that is then baked @ 160o C to 210o C giving a surface that will not crack, chip or peel like conventional paint. Powder coating is commonly used on frames, wheels, parts & some intake manifolds.
Ceramic coating is a process where the part is sandblasted, painted with the ceramic, baked for 1 hour @ 500 degrees, and finally, polished in a tumbler for half an hour. Ceramic coating is used mainly on exhaust headers and turbo housings due to its ability to hold up under extreme heat. Standard ceramic coating is good to 1300o F, and ceramic coating for turbo or nitrous motors is good to 1700o F.
